The original Meeker Sharkey was formed more than 100 years ago and became Meeker Sharkey & Hurley in 2014 after merging with The James F. Hurley Insurance Agency. For the past 20 years, the firm has specialized in insuring nonprofits, which account for 20% to 25% of their current book of business. The agency’s nonprofits clients range from social service and mental health agencies to halfway houses and YMCA/YWCA programs.
