Regional president
Insurance Office of America
Strong, steady and humble are the traits that characterize Richard Lott’s leadership style. His kindness, humor and unwavering dedication to serving his clients and those around him have made Lott a pillar of the insurance industry. When he started in the industry in 1982, he focused on the life and health side before transitioning into property & casualty.
Over the years, Lott has been a champion for those new to the business, serving as a strong advocate for their growth and success. Lott has a passion and proficiency for bringing young people into the business, which proved valuable when he started with Insurance Office of America, opening its office in Birmingham, Alabama. As the office grew, Lott’s team created a process for the entertainment industry to allow third-party production companies to secure insurance through the network for television shows, which has since been replicated throughout the industry.
Lott progressed to the IOA board of directors in 2010 and received the Partner of the Year Award the same year. He went on to become a regional president in 2013. Outside of IOA, he has been involved with several industry associations, nonprofits and charitable organizations, including serving as president of the board for the Birmingham Independent Insurance Agents Association.
