Peregrine Storrs-Fox (pictured), an advocate for risk mitigation and safety within the freight industry, has retired as TT Club’s risk management director after a 40-year tenure.
Storrs-Fox, who initially joined TT Club as a claims handler, advanced to become a pivotal figure in establishing the international insurance provider’s loss prevention services. As of October 1, Storrs-Fox has transitioned to a consultancy role, where he will support TT Club’s goal to improve safety standards within global transport.
Since his promotion to global claims director and subsequent transition to leading TT’s loss prevention initiatives, Storrs-Fox has championed improvements in freight safety and security. He is credited with significantly advancing TT Club’s programs designed to mitigate operational risks and safeguard supply chains worldwide.
“It is impossible to overstate the significant loss prevention initiatives in which Peregrine has taken a leading role,” said TT Club CEO Kevin King. “His risk management knowledge is unique, his research meticulous and his communication skills renowned. Peregrine has been particularly effective in bringing disparate interest groups together to present a united front.”
One of Storrs-Fox’s contributions was his advocacy for stricter handling and declaration protocols for hazardous cargoes. Addressing the risks posed by both hazardous and deceptively benign materials, he worked to educate and unite supply chain stakeholders, driving awareness about container fire hazards.
His involvement with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Verified Gross Mass (VGM) regulations further highlighted his influence. Storrs-Fox contributed to efforts refining the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) and Cargo Transport Unit (CTU) codes, advancing safety practices across various freight sectors. TT Club’s Innovation in Safety Award, a program he helped develop, promotes new technologies and practices that enhance safety for workers, cargo, infrastructure, and the environment.
TT Club’s managing director of loss prevention, Mike Yarwood, also praised Storrs-Fox’s contributions, noting, “He has dedicated most of his career to TT’s mission to make the global transport and logistics industry safer, more secure, and more sustainable. I’m delighted that Peregrine is continuing to support our growing loss prevention function.”
Founded in 1968, TT Club is an independent provider of mutual insurance and risk management for the international logistics and transport industry.
