RIMS, the risk management society, has appointed Kristen Peed as president for the 2025 term, effective Jan. 1.

Peed is currently the head of corporate risk at Sequoia, a California-based human resources technology platform and advisory services company. In this role, she is responsible for the placement of the company’s corporate insurance programs, claims management and the implementation of risk mitigation strategies.

Initially serving as an officer and board member for the RIMS Northeast Ohio Chapter, Peed joined the RIMS global board in 2018 and has served on its executive committee as secretary, treasurer and most recently, vice president in 2024.

Peed has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry both on the broker and client sides. Prior to her role at Sequoia, she was director of corporate risk at CBIZ Inc. and was part of the risk management team at Swagelok and STERIS Corporation.

She also served as a commercial lines broker earlier in her career, focusing on professional and executive liability at BB&T and Oswald Companies.

Commenting on her new role, Peed said: “As RIMS 2025 President – and the fortunate risk leader to serve in this role during RIMS 75th anniversary year – my priority is to help ensure that RIMS continues to deliver thought-leading insight and powerful networking opportunities that allow this professional community to thrive for years to come.”

The other officers of the 2025 board are:

Vice President – Manuel Padilla; vice president, Risk Management and Insurance, MacAndrews & Forbes Inc.

Treasurer – Christy Kaufman; vice president, P&C Risk and Compliance, USAA

Secretary – Penni Chambers; vice president, Risk Management, Hillwood, a Perot company

New members of the board include Carnell Jones, who is risk manager at Trinitas Ventures LLC, and Ondrea Matthews, who is senior director of risk management and benefits at CoorsTek LLC.

Meanwhile, incumbent board members include: Ann Barry, senior director of risk management at Palo Alto Networks; John Kline, senior director of enterprise insurance risk management at TransUnion; Will Lehman, global director of risk management at Cook Group Inc.; Tamieka Weeks, director of global risk management and insurance at Southwire Company; Christie Weinstein, director of risk management at Honeywell International, and Robert Zhang, regional risk and compliance manager, Asia Pacific, at IKEA Supply.

David Arick is ex-officio member of the board. He is managing director, global risk management at Segwick. RIMS chief executive Gary LaBranche is non-voting director.
