Apollo Syndicate Management, a specialist insurer and reinsurer at Lloyd’s, has appointed risk management expert Vinay Mistry to the position of chief risk officer, effective November 01.
Mistry has more than 16 years’ experience in the insurance market, specialising in capital management, pricing, and reinsurance. Prior to joining Apollo, Mistry was chief risk officer and executive director at The Channel Managing Agency for four years, where he led the risk, actuarial, data science and exposure management functions. He began his career in the London market at Aviva in 2003, before holding a series of managerial roles at Lloyd’s of London, with responsibilities over reinsurance, Solvency II, and ratings and investor relations between 2006 and 2010.
David Ibeson, chief executive officer of Apollo, said that Vinay’s experience at Lloyd’s and knowledge in the risk space will be an important addition to his team and significantly strengthen the firm’s capacity in risk management.
“Apollo is a lead market for a number of key Lloyd’s accounts and participates actively in a range of market consortia,” said Ibeson. “We are growing talent in the actuarial department as we deliver our underwriting commitment and his appointment is a crucial step towards completing this transformation. We would therefore like to warmly welcome Vinay to Apollo.”
