Root Insurance has revealed that it has entered the Californian insurance market, making its products available to residents of the state.
By entering the Californian auto insurance market, Root Insurance is now available to 60% of the US population, a release said.
Residents can use Root’s app – available on the App Store and Google Play – or the insurer’s website to sign up for auto insurance coverage. Consumers can get their rate simply by estimating their annual mileage and submitting the information to Root, which then takes care of the rest of the process to provide competitive rates.
“Root brings unparalleled personalization and control to the auto insurance market in California,” said Root CEO Alex Timm in a statement. “Through the Root app or website, customers can sign up and customize their coverage to immediately see how some coverage options can impact deductibles and limits. Root’s app makes the process easy—including filing claims.”
The expansion into California comes after the firm revealed earlier this year that it has plans to open shop in more states in the US – with the goal of eventually offering its products nationwide by 2020.
