Somerset Reinsurance has announced the appointment of Manisha Dias as its head of new business development, effective immediately.
In her new role, Dias will lead the global commercial activities of Somerset, including overseeing policies for underwriting and pricing. Her responsibilities include steering the company’s commercial strategies and managing client relationships.
According to her LinkedIn, Dias joins Somerset from SCOR Global Life Reinsurance in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she served as head of partnerships. During her tenure at SCOR, she co-founded the partnerships business, focusing on the development of innovative and digitally enabled life product offerings. She successfully led multiple teams, contributing significantly to the business’s growth in the US market.
Before her role in Charlotte, Dias was involved in new business development and fostering innovation in the Canadian market while working for SCOR in Toronto. Her industry experience spans various actuarial positions globally, including in Canada, the US, and Asia, with renowned names like John Hancock and Manulife.

Based in Bermuda, Dias will report directly to Jeff Burt, chairman and chief executive officer of Somerset.
