Munich Re HealthTech (MRHT) has officially announced Bilal Ramadan (pictured above) as its chief executive officer.

He succeeds Gerry Raftopoulos, who stepped down in February 2024 after a 28-year tenure. During that time, he established MRHT as an entity serving clients across 19 markets in Europe, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Ramadan, who has 27 years within the group, assumes the role from March 1, 2024.

Ramadan holds a bachelor of science in mathematics and computer science from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and a master of business administration with a focus on finance from the University of LaVerne, USA.

Reporting directly to Owais Ansari, head of Munich Re Life & Health for the Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan, and Takaful Business, Ramadan’s responsibilities will include leading product innovation and driving commercial expansion.

“We congratulate Bilal Ramadan for his appointment. His promotion marks an exciting new chapter for our region, and I am confident that he will create significant value for our organization. Under his leadership, extensive experience and commitment, MRHT is well poised to excel,” Ansari said.

In other recent developments, a new survey conducted by the APCIA and Munich Re US highlighted public perception gaps regarding the US legal system.
