BMS Group, the independent specialist re/insurance broker, has announced the appointment of Richard Dudley (pictured above) as group chief broking officer.
Dudley, who will be based in London, will report to BMS Group CEO Nick Cook and is set to join the company in December.
His leadership was instrumental in Aon’s integration of Benfield following its acquisition in 2008, driving growth across Aon’s UK, Ireland, and Benelux businesses.
At BMS, Dudley will focus on expanding the company’s reinsurance platforms in both London and Bermuda, leveraging his extensive industry network. His role will also include supporting the growth of BMS’s London Specialty business under the leadership of Ian Gormley.
Dudley’s experience in managing large specialty operations is expected to play a pivotal role in executing BMS’s growth strategies.
Mirabal’s appointment is part of BMS Re’s broader strategy to strengthen its position in the LAC region. His extensive background in reinsurance is expected to drive growth in this key market.
Dudley’s appointment follows several other senior leadership hires at BMS in recent months. These include Brad Melvin as BMS Re president and US CEO, Chris Brook as chief operating officer, Ali Trauttmansdorff as chief people officer, Charlie Rozes as group CFO, and Farah Nelson as US CFO.
Cook emphasized that Dudley’s experience in specialty and reinsurance, as well as his global relationships, will support the company’s expansion into new markets.
“His vast expertise in both Specialty and Reinsurance, along with his relationships and history of working with colleagues, insurers, regulators, and clients across the globe, will be instrumental as BMS expands its international footprint,” Cook said.
In addition to Dudley’s appointment, BMS Re, the specialty reinsurance arm of BMS Group, has named Anthony Mirabal as CEO of its Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) division. Mirabal, who will begin his role in November 2024, has more than 30 years of experience in the reinsurance sector.
He started his career as a casualty underwriter at Gen Re and has since held various underwriting, production, and management roles at companies such as ERC and EWB.
