Acrisure Re, the re/insurance division of global fintech firm Acrisure, has announced leadership changes in its international reinsurance division.
David Sowrey (pictured above, left) has been appointed managing director, while Nigel Dane (pictured above, right) takes on the role of chairman of the international treaty business, both effective immediately. Based in London, they will continue to report to CEO Simon Hedley.
Sowrey, who has been with Acrisure Re since 2012, will continue to lead the reinsurance broking operations as managing director, focusing on the company’s international reinsurance business.
He has played a key role in expanding the firm's London platform and brings extensive experience in property, casualty, multi-line reinsurance, and retro classes of business. His responsibilities include overseeing treaty reinsurance, Lloyd’s consortia, and managing general agents (MGAs).
Dane, in his new role as chairman of the international treaty business, will concentrate on strengthening relationships with both new and existing clients and markets. His focus will be on enhancing partnerships with major cedants and reinsurers.
Dane has over 40 years of experience in the re/insurance industry and has been with Acrisure Re since 2002, when he established and led the company’s London office. His career spans multiple classes of business across both sides of the Atlantic.
Hedley said that the leadership appointments aim to reinforce the company's growth and strengthen partnerships with key clients and markets. He said that the leadership of Sowrey and Dane will be integral to Acrisure Re's continued global expansion and success.
In March, the reinsurance broker also named a new global executive vice president as the firm continues to expand its operations internationally.
Joel Hodges began his tenure on March 1. He is based in London but serves in a global capacity and brings over two decades of experience in the reinsurance and insurance industry to his new role.
