Richard Edsall (pictured), who retired in 2022 after serving as senior vice president of commercial management liability at Argo Pro, is back – this time as SVP at Tara Hill Insurance Services, Ambac Financial Group’s excess & surplus program administrator, which began writing this month.
At Tara Hill, Edsall will lead the development of an E&S portfolio primarily of private management liability and miscellaneous professional liability coverages for small to medium-sized risks.
“I am very excited to be joining Tara Hill and look forward to working with [Tara Hill CEO] Pete McKeegan and [Cirrata Group president] Naveen Anand in building a best-in-class management liability insurance program,” commented Edsall, whose credentials include time spent at Chubb, Axcelera Specialty, and AIG.
McKeegan, who formed Tara Hill in 2023 with the backing of Ambac’s insurance distribution division Cirrata Group, noted: “Rich is an exceptional underwriter who has built profitable books of business across the commercial and financial institutions spaces.
“He is well known and well respected for his strategic and technical skills. He is an outstanding addition to our team.”
Meanwhile, Tara Hill has also hired Brian McKeegan as a senior underwriter. The former Genova Burns attorney previously worked as an underwriter at Berkley Professional Liability.
The appointments come on the heels of Tara Hill’s partnership with SiriusPoint, which provides capacity and claims handling oversight to the new program administrator.
“With the financial backing of Ambac and the leadership of industry veteran Peter McKeegan, Tara Hill has the perfect platform on which to launch its new program,” SiriusPoint North America insurance head Patrick Charles highlighted earlier this month.
At the time, Peter McKeegan added: “We are excited to bring this new program to the US E&S sector alongside the complementary underwriting discipline and experience shared by the team at SiriusPoint.”
