The Arbella Insurance Foundation has marked a major milestone in the past year, cementing its status in the industry since its inception almost two decades ago.
The foundation has reported a contribution of $3 million in 2023 to aid 516 charitable organizations across New England, bringing its total donations to over $43.2 million since its establishment in 2005.
This year, the foundation’s financial assistance and the volunteer efforts of Arbella employees were directed towards longstanding charitable partners engaged in crucial areas such as social justice, housing opportunities, and immigration reform.
The foundation also noted substantial volunteer support, with 470 employee volunteers participating in 40 different activities for 22 organizations, contributing over 1,300 volunteer hours in 2023.
The foundation also noted its collaboration with Arbella employees and independent agents, who contribute their time and provide valuable insights into community needs. In 2023, this collaborative effort resulted in donations and volunteer work that had a significant impact on local charities, with the combined contributions from the foundation, employees, and agents totaling $477,000.
Last year, the foundation continued its “Let’s Drive out Hunger” program for the 16th year, encouraging Arbella insurance agents to support local food pantries with a donation matching program, benefiting hundreds of food programs throughout New England.
The 15th annual Pink Day saw Arbella employees raising funds for cancer screenings and education at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, with the foundation matching their contributions for a total of $50,000.
Meanwhile, the foundation's commitment to supportive housing included a significant donation to Father Bill’s & MainSpring for the Yawkey House Resource Center in Quincy, aiding the homeless with various supports.
The organization also backed immigration reform efforts in Massachusetts, partnering with organizations like the Rian Immigrant Center and the Brazilian Workers Center to support the state's immigrant population.
Lastly, in response to flooding in Western Massachusetts, the foundation provided $50,000 in relief to affected local farmers. Additionally, partnerships with the Boston Celtics on the All-Star Program and the Boston Symphony Orchestra School Bus Program highlighted the foundation's involvement in educational and cultural enrichment activities.
John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group and chairman and president of the Arbella Insurance Foundation, emphasized the importance of community support in the company's ethos.
“Giving back to our communities has always been at the core of Arbella’s mission, and it is a quality I admire in our employees,” he said.
Donohue also highlighted the socioeconomic challenges that emerge annually and commended the dedication of Arbella employees to charitable giving.
Robin Jones, the executive director of the Arbella Insurance Foundation, praised the generosity of Arbella employees and agents.
