Alera Group has acquired the insurance firm Sylvia Group in Dartmouth, MA.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1950, Syliva Group serves the New England area with personal insurance, business insurance, employee benefits and financial planning solutions. A release noted that the firm has a “unique expertise” in serving non-profits and start-ups.
All Sylvia Group employees will continue to operate out of the firm’s current location under the name “Sylvia Group, an Alera Group Company, LLC,” following the transaction.
“The strength of Sylvia Group’s property and casualty expertise is a tremendous fit for the Alera Group employee benefits firms in New England,” said Alera Group CEO Alan Levitz.
“We are joining Alera Group to lead the way in collaboration and industry expertise as we continue to create powerful solutions for our clients,” commented Sylvia Group managing partner Maureen Sylvia Armstrong.
Armstrong noted that the national tools and resources Sylvia Group now has at its disposal (as part of Alera Group) will allow her team to better set itself apart as it continues to serve clients.
