Thomas Miller Specialty chief underwriting officer Bernt Hellman (pictured) has stepped down from his position to focus on expanding the company’s offshore business while the insurer looks to recruit a new CUO to replace him.
Hellman joined Thomas Miller Specialty in 2016 and helped grow its range of insurance solutions to the marine industry and other sectors in the last three years. The company has recently expanded its offshore team into renewable energy products. Hellman will be focusing on the growth of Thomas Miller Specialty’s offshore business as he transitions away from his CUO role.
In the interim, protection and indemnity underwriting director Helge Volger will head marine P&I underwriting operations to ease the leadership transition, having over 15 years’ experience in the marine market.
“I want to thank Bernt for his work as CUO in [Thomas Miller Specialty] over the last three years and steering the growth and development across our underwriting businesses during this time and I look forward to announcing his successor in due course,” said CEO Danielle Champion.
