Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has launched an ocean marine insurance proposition in the US while bringing in heads of marine and marine claims.
Appointed as marine head is Ben Wyatt, while Chris Frick will serve as head of marine claims. Aside from the new hires and ocean marine form, BHSI is also rolling out enhanced inland marine offerings for construction, transportation, and specialty customers in the US.
It was noted that, worldwide, BHSI’s ocean and inland marine coverages are tailored for mid-market and large, risk-managed customers.
Commenting on the changes, BHSI marine executive Dimitry Zilberud said: “BHSI continues to expand our marine capabilities and team around the globe. This US expansion is the latest example.
“Ben will lead our regional team of underwriters and bring our far-reaching marine offerings to retail and wholesale brokers across the US, while Chris delivers on our CLAIMS IS OUR PRODUCT philosophy for customers.”
The two are both based in New York. Wyatt most recently served as head of cargo at another insurer. He brings more than a decade of marine insurance experience to BHSI. Frick, meanwhile, has over 30 years of industry know-how.
In January, BHSI announced the appointment of Nick Holding as UK marine head.
At the time, UK country head Nick Major said: “I am pleased to welcome Nick to lead our team of excellent marine underwriters and our ongoing expansion in this market. He will oversee our underwriting of complex marine accounts as well as the superior service we provide to our customers and brokers.”
