INSUREtrust, a cyber insurance and risk management specialty broker within CRC Group, has announced the appointment of Sonja Kozel (pictured above) as senior vice president.
Kozel brings over 10 years of insurance experience to the role. Before joining INSUREtrust, Kozel served as SVP, US sales & distribution with a large cyber insurer. In this role, she managed the carrier’s largest broker relationships and helped expand key strategic partnerships.
Kozel also played a key role in specialty pool and affinity programs, as well as shaping strategy for national association and aggregator relationships. Her background includes experience in distribution with a large specialty insurer and underwriting with a national insurance group.
At INSUREtrust, Kozel will focus on broadening the group’s footprint through internal collaboration and expanding and strengthening retail brokerage partnerships. She is a University of Nebraska graduate and is currently based in St Louis, Missouri.
Kozel will report to INSUREtrust CEO Christiaan Durdaller.
“We are excited to bring Sonja on board with INSUREtrust,” Durdaller said. He noted that she is well respected by the brokering community and will be an asset to the team.
“Her extensive experience in the marketplace, deep relationships within the retail brokerage community and passion for all things cyber make Sonja a natural fit for our team,” he said.
Kozel also expressed her enthusiasm at joining INSUREtrust, noting her admiration for the team and culture throughout their trading partnership.
“My career has centered around providing top notch service by adhering to a broker-centric approach. This position gives me an opportunity to help expand the INSUREtrust brand - one that truly embodies expertise and integrity. I couldn’t be more excited,” she said.
Back in April, the cyber insurance broker was officially integrated into the wholesale brokerage division of insurance distributor CRC Group to form a new cyber practice unit.
“INSUREtrust’s exclusive products will significantly augment CRC’s excellent capabilities to address the evolving needs of clients in the cyber insurance landscape,” Durdaller said.
