Specialist global insurer Hiscox has appointed Mike Maletsky (pictured above) as vice president and practice leader for technology E&O and cyber.

Maletsky, based in Maryland, will report to Paul Spelman, senior vice president of underwriting management at Hiscox USA.

In his new role, Maletsky will oversee all aspects of Hiscox USA’s technology E&O and cyber underwriting. He brings over 18 years of industry experience to the position, most recently serving as assistant vice president of digital products at Embroker.

Prior to that, he held product management and learning and development roles at The Hartford and began his career in underwriting with Chubb. Maletsky holds a bachelor of arts in business administration from The University of Iowa.

“Tech and cyber are two of the fastest-moving areas of risk out there. Throughout his career, Mike has demonstrated an appetite for innovation and staying ahead of cyber risk and emerging technologies,” Spelman said. “With a background in both underwriting and product development, he possesses a rare ability to navigate both spaces, promoting a holistic approach to innovation, underwriting practicality and the product lifecycle.”

Hiscox USA offers a variety of specialty risk solutions, including errors and omissions, general liability, cyber and data security, media liability, management liability, crime, entertainment, and terrorism insurance products.

The Hiscox Group employs over 3,000 people across 14 countries and serves customers worldwide. Through its retail businesses in the UK, Europe, Asia, and the USA, Hiscox provides specialist insurance for professionals, business customers, and homeowners.

Last month, the specialist insurer appointed Mary Boyd as chief executive of Hiscox USA.

Succeeding Kevin Kerridge, who is leaving at the end of September, Boyd assumed the post on June 24. Since then, Kerridge has served in an advisory capacity before he exits to explore other opportunities.
