Hiscox has announced the appointment of Alexandra Furth (pictured above) as head of claims in the US, effective March 10.
In her new role, Furth will oversee the claims practice for Hiscox USA. She brings more than 20 years of experience in claims and legal leadership, most recently serving as head of casualty claims at AIG.
Prior to AIG, she held deputy general and corporate counsel roles at Liberty Mutual, the University of Massachusetts, and Resolute Management. She began her career at Ropes & Gray LLP and holds a juris doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Williams College.
Furth will report to Hiscox USA CEO Mary Boyd and group claims director Steve Parry.
Furth’s appointment follows that of Karen Baldwin, also appointed earlier this month, to the post of vice president and media practice leader for Hiscox USA. Baldwin joined Hiscox from AXIS Capital, where she most recently served as vice president of media, film and entertainment.
With over 30 years of experience in media underwriting, Baldwin has worked at companies such as One Beacon, Chubb and Employers Reinsurance.
In January, the company also added Frank Lamantia as its chief technology officer to steer its technology strategy as Hiscox USA expands its digital transformation efforts.
Lamantia brings over 15 years of experience in technology leadership, particularly in the insurtech and property and casualty insurance sectors. He most recently served as the chief technology officer at Bold Penguin.
Prior to his role at Bold Penguin, he held technology leadership positions at Magellan Health and Olive.
Hiscox USA provides a range of admitted and specialty risk solutions, including professional liability, general liability, cyber and data security, media liability, management liability, crime, entertainment, and terrorism insurance.
