Medical professional liability (MPL) insurance provider Coverys has announced the addition of Brian J Farrell Jr, JD, LLM in insurance law (pictured above), to its executive team as its new senior vice president of claims.
Farrell will report to Catherine Donahue, chief operating officer at Coverys, and will be responsible for leading the claims team and managing claims services across the Coverys organization.
Farrell brings to Coverys an expansive background of 30 years focused on progressively advancing the capabilities of claims departments and law firms.
Before joining Coverys, Farrell was a key figure at Chubb, serving as vice president of claims, where he was instrumental in enhancing the claims experience and managing solutions for the insurer’s largest and most complex clients, it was stated.
His extensive career also includes a pivotal role as managing attorney for AIG, during which he expanded the firm’s practice areas and client base.
Farrell’s academic credentials include a Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University School of Law, a Master of Laws with a specialization in insurance law from the University of Connecticut, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and philosophy from Saint Michael’s College.
Farrell is also currently the president of Farrell Law and Consulting, a full-service law firm focusing on civil trial defense & alternative dispute resolution.
Cathy Donahue, chief operating officer at Coverys, praised Farrell’s appointment, emphasizing his leadership qualities and operational acumen.
“Brian is a proven leader that not only has a firm command of claims and dispute resolution but also how to elevate operational excellence,” Donahue said. “He has a unique approach to fostering collaboration between internal and external stakeholders that creates even greater value for the organizations he engages. Equally important, Brian is known for empowering individuals and their teams to deliver innovative solutions on behalf of policyholders.”
