Barnes tapped as global chief claims officer at Aon

Broking giant Aon has appointed Mona Barnes (pictured) as global chief claims officer with immediate effect.

In this key leadership position, Barnes will report to Joe Peiser, chief executive of Aon’s commercial risk division. She will be responsible for overseeing the company’s worldwide claims operations, collaborating closely with global colleagues.

Barnes came on board Aon in 2023, managing teams within UK claims and the global broking center. Before joining Aon, she led Swiss Re Group’s global key case and large loss management team and previously held the role of vice president for overseas claims management at Chubb.

The claims expert has also been on the advisory board of the RAND Institute for Civil Justice.

Peiser praised Barnes’ contributions, saying: “Since joining Aon, Mona has demonstrated exceptional leadership and brought invaluable expertise across a wide range of risk classes and complex claims. Her innovative approach and commitment to excellence make her a perfect fit for this role.”

The commercial risk chief also emphasized the strategic importance of the appointment, adding: “Mona’s appointment underscores Aon’s dedication to delivering best-in-class claims outcomes and services for our clients – one of our key differentiators.

“We are confident her stewardship will further enhance our relationships with clients, colleagues, insurers, and partners across all aspects of claims.”
