Zurich North America has announced two key appointments for its US National Accounts business.
Brian Winters, previously head of large casualty, has been appointed as head of US National Accounts broker execution. Succeeding Winters as head of large casualty is Bill Chepulis, who previously served as head of underwriting for US National Accounts.
Winters and Chepulis will report to Paul Lavelle, head of US National Accounts.
Winters has more than 35 years of industry experience, 15 of them at Zurich. He has held key roles in sales and distribution, casualty and wholesale, specialty lines and customer management. Prior to joining Zurich, he worked at XL Insurance Global Risk.
“Brian is well respected as a very strong relationship builder among our customers and brokers,” Lavelle said. “We want to use that experience across National Accounts and Zurich North America.”
Chepulis has served at Zurich for 17 years in a variety of roles in commercial insurance, distribution and regional management, and planning and performance. Prior to joining Zurich, he held finance roles at Navistar and Kemper Insurance.
“Bill’s technical strength and depth of knowledge will be tremendously valuable as he oversees the large casualty book of new and renewal business,” Lavelle said.
The appointments are the latest for Zurich. Earlier this month, Penny Seach, former chief underwriting officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, stepped into the role of group chief underwriting officer. In September, the company named two new industry practice leaders for its US middle market team.
