Zurich North America has announced the appointment of Nora Hattauer as head of financial lines for US national accounts and middle market divisions, effective Oct. 21.

Hattauer will oversee the direction, management, and performance of Zurich's Financial Lines strategic business unit, which provides insurance solutions for directors and officers (D&O), cyber, financial institutions, and private/nonprofit (PNP) sectors. She will report to Paul Lavelle, head of US national accounts, while also having dual accountability to Alex Wells, head of middle market.

“Nora has a distinguished record of strategic vision and successful execution in financial lines,” Lavelle said. “I’m pleased to welcome her to this key leadership role on our team at Zurich.”

Hattauer brings nearly 19 years of extensive industry experience to Zurich North America, having led management liability products, including D&O liability, at American International Group (AIG).

During her nearly 19 years at AIG, Hattauer held several key management positions within the financial lines unit. Most recently, she served as head of management liability for national accounts, where she successfully drove profitable growth in the D&O portfolio. Additionally, she held roles as chief underwriting officer for the public company segments and regional underwriting manager. Before her time at AIG, Hattauer worked in underwriting at Chubb and the St. Paul Companies.

Hattauer earned her bachelor of arts in economic theory from American University in Washington, D.C., and her MBA with a concentration in finance from Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business in Atlanta. She was honored as a 2022 Business Insurance Woman to Watch and named a Rising Champion by Robinson College of Business. Additionally, she served as co-chair of the PLUS D&O Symposium from 2020 to 2022.
