Woodruff Sawyer, one of the largest independent insurance brokerages in the US, has announced the appointment of John Fuhrman (pictured) as Southern California practice leader.
Prior to joining the company, Fuhrman was a managing director at Marsh, where he led the Pacific South partnership. He also spent 10 years as a managing director at Willis Towers Watson.
In his new role, Fuhrman will lead the Southern California region’s operations, including aligning the organization’s interests with client services, recruiting new talent, and identifying growth opportunities.

“Coming in, I expect to spend a good amount of time talking with associates and clients with a concentration on customer service, solving client problems, and developing innovative solutions,” Fuhrman said. “Woodruff Sawyer was a tough competitor when I was up against them, and obviously a growing organization with lots of discipline. These are my kind of people.”
“John has a sterling reputation in the industry, in the marketplace and with clients,” said Zac Overbay, chief operating officer at Woodruff Sawyer. “His balanced background in operations and recruiting and his client focus are highly complementary to Woodruff Sawyer’s client-first ethos. We’re looking forward to seeing his impact on our SoCal operations.”
