W.R. Berkley Corporation has appointed John Henle as the president of Union Standard Insurance Group, effective immediately.
Henle has more than two decades of multi-line insurance experience, focused on management and distribution. Prior to his appointment, he worked with Farmers Insurance since 1999, ending his stint there as the senior vice president who reports directly to the chief executive officer.
Henle also boasts a degree in business administration from the University of Nevada.
“John is clearly a proven leader who brings a tremendous skill set to the organization,” said W. Robert Berkley, Jr., chief executive officer of W.R. Berkley Corporation. “We are confident that John and the Union Standard team will continue to build upon the business’s strong foundation."
He succeeds B. Keith Mitchell, who transitions into a chairman role for Union Standard. Mitchell joined the company in 1998 before being named president in 2014. He was behind Union Standard’s success in the south-central US commercial property-casualty insurance market. As chairman, Mitchell’s responsibilities extend to other special projects and initiatives for the W.R. Berkley Corporation.
"Keith has been instrumental in positioning Union Standard on a continuing trajectory for success. We thank him for his many years of service and significant contributions to our company and are grateful that he will continue to be a part of our team,” Berkley said.
