W. R. Berkley Corporation has announced the establishment of Berkley Embedded Solutions, a new business designed to provide insurance products and services integrated directly into the purchasing process.

Stephanie Lloyd has been appointed president of the newly formed entity. According to a news release, Lloyd brings two decades of experience in the property and casualty insurance sector, having held leadership roles in underwriting, product development, and distribution. She previously served as the CEO of a global technology firm in the digital health and well-being industry.

W. Robert Berkley, Jr., president and CEO of W. R. Berkley Corporation, highlighted Lloyd’s expertise in embedded insurance, noting her experience in launching and scaling an embedded platform serving global consumer brands.

“Stephanie is recognized as a pioneer in the embedded insurance market,” Berkley said. “Berkley Embedded’s value proposition will be offering traditional insurance industry expertise while simultaneously meeting customers where they want to be met. We are delighted to have Stephanie lead Berkley’s efforts along this important frontier.”

Founded in 1967, W. R. Berkley Corporation is one of the largest commercial lines insurance writers in the US. Berkley Embedded Solutions aims to leverage modern technology to offer digital-first insurance products and services while maintaining Berkley’s established underwriting approach.

The announcement follows W. R. Berkley’s recent financial success. The company reported a fourth-quarter net income of $576.1 million, a 45% increase from $397.3 million in the same period last year. This rise was driven by net investment gains, particularly from its fixed-maturity portfolio and net unrealized gains on equities. Net premiums also grew to $2.94 billion, supported by an average rate increase of 7.7% across most lines. The company’s strong financial performance positions it for continued growth in 2025.

W. R. Berkley Corporation operates globally in property and casualty insurance through its insurance and reinsurance and monoline excess segments.
