Florida State University’s risk management/insurance, real estate, and legal studies program was recently awarded the Global Centers of Insurance Excellence (GCIE) by an international organization.
The International Insurance Society gave FSU the GCIE citation for its outstanding program, and took into consideration its accreditation, curriculum, faculty qualifications and industry involvement.
According to a report by school organ
FSU News, the GCIE program aims to encourage universities to actively participate in advancing insurance knowledge, enhance industry research and intellectual capital development, and encourage industry-academe collaboration.
The award will be formally announced at the International Insurance Society’s 2017 Global Insurance Forum in London this July.
“This award is the result of the collective efforts of the faculty…in collaboration with our executive council, donors, supporters, and alumni,” department chair Cassandra Cole said in the News report.
Cole went on to say, “We are proud to be recognized by the International Insurance Society for our work in advancing insurance education and promoting strong connections with the industry.”
FSU’s risk management program is one of the oldest and largest in the country and is ranked fifth among public institutions and seventh across the US.
