TruStage, an insurance, investment and technology provider, has appointed Jon Winderman as chief financial officer, effective Dec. 16.

Winderman will succeed Laurie Winger, who is retiring at the end of the year. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining the company, he was finance chief of the Group Benefits division of Guardian Life. There, he supervised the growth and expansion efforts of the company’s dental, disability and life supplemental benefits sectors to serve more than 13 million customers.

He also held similar roles at Transamerica, New York Life and Cigna.

Terrance Williams, president and chief executive of TruStage, said Winderman’s experience will truly benefit the company. “From his extensive background in strategic financial oversight of a diverse product portfolio, to his skill in finance systems and operations, to his passion for developing talent within the organization, Jon will be a tremendous leader for our company,” he said.

Winderman said he is grateful to be joining a mission-driven organization. “I’m honored to be joining TruStage and continuing to build our nearly century-long mission of ensuring that a brighter financial future is accessible to everyone,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to Winger for her over 30 years of service.

“Laurie started her career as an intern at TruStage and has since played crucial leadership roles in the company and for the credit union movement,” Winderman said. “We are incredibly grateful to her and wish her a happy retirement.”

The company has undergone various transformations throughout Winger’s career as finance chief. Earlier this year, the company upgraded its Zone Income Annuity offering, which now features enhanced flexibility in withdrawals for both new and existing contracts.

It also introduced new index options, including the Dimensional US Small Cap Value Systematic Index and the Barclays Risk Balanced Index.
