Specialty insurance provider Trisura Group has announced the appointment of Tom Ciano (pictured above) as the chief underwriting officer for its soon-to-launch US corporate insurance operations.
Based in Boston, Ciano is an industry veteran with extensive underwriting and brokering experience across various segments, both for private and publicly traded companies.
His prior experience includes working as the national underwriting officer for the commercial management liability practice at a leading North American insurer. He was also the practice leader for management liability at USI Insurance Services (who recently were recognized as one of the top insurance companies to work for), where he provided technical counseling, coverage placement, and relationship management for Fortune 1000 companies.
In his new role, Ciano will be leading Trisura’s entry into the US corporate insurance market, which has an underwriting launch date set for later this year.
This entry will allow agents and brokers to access a North American specialty insurance platform that includes Trisura's Canadian operations, as well as its US Surety group.
A press release from Trisura described the move as a way to provide custom solutions and experiences that are “always a step above.”
“We are very pleased to welcome Tom Ciano to lead Trisura’s US corporate insurance launch,” said Chris Sekine, president and CEO of Trisura Guarantee Insurance Company. “Tom is a highly respected, seasoned professional with valuable experience in both underwriting and brokering these lines of business. We look forward to launching and growing the corporate insurance business in the US under Tom’s leadership.”
Earlier this month, announced the addition of Anik Lanthier to its board of directors.
Lanthier, a seasoned financial services professional, most recently led Fiera Capital's Public Markets team and held several senior roles at PSP Investments. A statement from Trisura said his addition to the board brings valuable experience in investment management, risk management, governance, and social and environmental responsibility, amongst other areas.
