The Hanover Insurance Group has announced the appointment of Charles “Chip” F. Hamann (pictured above) as president of small commercial. He succeeds Michael R. Keane, who is transitioning to a new role within the company.
In his new role, Hamann will be responsible for leading the company’s small commercial business and implementing strategies to best serve its agents and small business customers.
Hamann brings over 35 years of industry experience to his new position. He has been with The Hanover since 2002 and previously held the positions of deputy president and chief underwriting officer of small commercial.
Prior to joining The Hanover, Hamann served as president of small business at OneBeacon Insurance and vice president of commercial lines at Chubb Insurance. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Hamilton College and is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter.
“Chip was an integral player in helping to architect the profitable growth of our small commercial portfolio, and we are excited to see him step into this new role,” said Richard W. Lavey, president of Hanover Agency Markets. “He is well respected as a leader, and his extensive experience will help him capitalize on the momentum of our small commercial business and drive even greater growth, while serving the needs of our agent partners and our small business customers.”
In April, The Hanover announced the launch of a new cyber risk management program. The insurance group was also recently named one of America’s most responsible companies by Newsweek magazine.
