State Farm looks set to further solidify its presence in the e-sports scene by renewing an expanded sponsorship deal with Riot Games, developer of the popular video game League of Legends, according to reports.
By extending the partnership until 2021, the insurance company will serve as a major sponsor for upcoming League of Legends tournaments, most notably the 2019 League of Legends World Championship, the All-Star Event, and the LoL College Championship. State Farm will serve as the title sponsor of the LoL College Championship.
State Farm first joined the sponsorship team of the North American League of Legends Championship series last year.
“This sponsorship has been extended earlier than anticipated as we are both eager to expand and build on our many fan-centric activities up through the 2021 League of Legends World Championship,” said Riot Games e-sports partnerships head Naz Aletaha in a statement.
VentureBeat reported that the League of Legends World Championship last year drew over 99.6 million unique viewers.
