PEMCO Mutual Insurance has named Chris Purcell to the position of vice-president and chief information officer, joining the organization’s executive team.

Purcell will continue to advance PEMCO’s digital and technology strategies in his new role, a release said. He has a 30-year track record of effectively leading technology and innovation initiatives for organizations and was last serving as vice-president of technology at investment, philanthropic and technology innovation firm Vulcan in Seattle. In that role, he was in charge of Vulcan’s business systems, emerging technology efforts, R&D engineering and IT operations.

Other previous roles Purcell has held include chief technology officer at engineering, construction, and energy services firm McKinstry. In that role, he stablished the digital transformation strategy and technology vision for the firm. “Chris’s expertise, innovative perspective and forward-thinking mindset are an ideal fit for PEMCO’s customer-focused culture and mission to empower others,” said PEMCO CEO Stan McNaughton.

“PEMCO is uniquely positioned to merge award-winning customer service and proven underwriting discipline with emerging telematics, data analytics and applied intelligence technologies to further transform insurance delivery,” commented Purcell, adding that he could not have joined the company at a more “exciting” time.
