PEMCO Insurance has announced that it has hired B. Maurice Ward as diversity & inclusion (D&I) manager, who joins the company’s diversity office which oversees PEMCO’s internal and external communications and initiatives.
Ward has more than 15 years of experience in building inclusive, innovative program and partnerships that benefit youth, families, and communities, a release said.
In his new role, Ward will drive company-wide D&I initiatives, implementing compliance, diversity, and inclusion principles that improve employee engagement, recruitment practices and relationships with supplier networks, a release said.
He has previously working to enhance the juvenile justice system and human services for several organizations such as DSHS-Rehabilitation Administration, Multicultural Counseling Services, Ltd., and Cardinal Consulting, LLC.
Ward formerly served as a member of the Washington Partnership Council on Juvenile Justice, where he had a number of responsibilities such as co-chair of the Disproportionate Minority Contact Committee, and supportive member of the Behavioral Health Committee.
He is a licensed chemical dependency professional (CDP), certified counselor advisor (CV), and moral reconation therapy (MRT) instructor. Ward graduated from Seattle Central College; he used to serve in the US Navy aboard the USS Camden.
