Orchid Underwriters Agency (Orchid Insurance) has promoted Kathy Cody (pictured) to the role of president.
Cody joined Orchid Insurance in 2019 as chief operating officer, having previously served as the COO of Farmers Insurance Group’s personal lines division. The company said in a release that she has been instrumental in modernizing Orchid Insurance’s business platform, leading the company through one of the hardest markets in years, the most active storm season on record, and a worldwide pandemic.
Cody has more than 30 years of insurance industry experience – with 10 of those years spent at Farmers. She also previously served as the chief financial officer of Farmers’ life business.
“Kathy’s appointment is well-deserved,” said Orchid Insurance chief executive officer Brad Emmons. “I have great confidence in her ability to lead our organization, incrementally improve our capabilities, and drive execution toward our strategic vision.”
“I could not be prouder of my time at Orchid. I have enjoyed the full support of our private equity owner, Towerbrook Capital Partners, the board of directors and Brad in implementing transformational strategies that will bring additional value to our carrier partners and our retail agents,” commented Cody on her appointment. “We have assembled an extremely talented leadership team, and, as a result, are well positioned to capitalize on market fluctuations, renewed demands on technology and innovation, data, analytics and, of course, sophisticated underwriting capabilities.”
