Northwestern Mutual has appointed Fawaz Rasheed as vice president and chief information security officer (CISO). In that role, he will lead the company’s enterprise risk and cybersecurity team and spearhead its information security strategy.

Rasheed has more than 20 years of leadership experience at global companies across a range of industries. Prior to joining Northwestern Mutual, he served as CISO at Trustmark Companies. He has also served as global CISO at Johnson Controls and leader of Verizon’s Global Security Solutions business.

“Risk management and protecting information is a critical component of our business and allows us to deepen trust with our clients, financial representatives and employees,” said Ray Manista, executive vice president and chief legal and compliance officer for Northwestern Mutual. “Fawaz is a seasoned business leader with extensive experience in information security, risk management and privacy. He will be a great asset as we continue to protect our clients and advance our cybersecurity strategy.”
