NJM Insurance Group, a property and casualty insurer, is donating $100,000 to support hunger relief organizations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, particularly in Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
The donation will be distributed among five organizations: Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Community Foodbank of New Jersey, Connecticut Foodshare, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Maryland Foodbank. The company did not disclose how much these organizations will each receive.
“Households across our nation continue struggling to put food on the table,” NJM president and chief executive Mitch Livingston said. “NJM is proud to help advance the vital efforts undertaken by non-profits on the frontline making a measurable impact on the lives of people facing hunger.”
Community Foodbank of New Jersey president and CEO Elizabeth McCarthy thanked the company for its donation and its support in helping combat hunger in the communities.
“Nearly 1 million New Jersey residents, including more than 260,000 children, face food insecurity,” she said. “We are grateful for corporate leaders like NJM and its generous support of our efforts to combat hunger in our communities.”
This is not the first time NJM Insurance has donated to hunger relief in the region. Last year, the company also made a $100,000 donation to 20 organizations across the Mid-Atlantic region.
In April 2020, the company committed $400,000 to COVID-19 relief efforts.
“NJM’s community support efforts are rooted in a culture of purpose-driven service,” the company said.
The company also offers outreach and volunteering opportunities for its employees, including membership on multiple non-profit committees and boards.
