Nexus Underwriting has appointed Steve Willett (pictured) as development head.
As head of development at the specialty managing general agent, Willett will focus on broadening the global footprint and broking base of the company’s financial lines team. Additionally, he will be in charge of the Nexus Lloyd’s box offering.
“I’m excited to be joining the team at Nexus, a highly respected global business in our market,” Willett, who most recently served as financial lines head at Barents Re, commented. “I’m looking forward to leading the next phase of their journey and diversify the portfolio following the Brown & Brown acquisition.”
Brown & Brown snapped up Kentro Capital Limited – the London-headquartered group behind Nexus Underwriting and Xenia Broking – in 2023.
Lifting the lid on the appointment, D&O/FI (directors and officers / financial institutions) managing director Jamie Ricketts said: “Steve is a respected underwriter who I’ve known for many years as a significant presence in this market, and I’m delighted to have him on our team.
“Historically, our focus within directors, officers, and financial institutions has focused towards UK-centric territories and the non-banking sectors of the FI world. Steve’s experience and knowledge of the banking sector and alternative territories – including Latin America and the Caribbean – will open up new opportunities and distribution channels for us.”
Willett’s credentials as a senior underwriter include a decade spent at Antares and five years with CNA. He was also connected with specialty brokers like SBJ, Willis, and Glencairn.
