NCCI Holdings, Inc. announced that Tracy Ryan (pictured) will become its new president and chief executive officer, effective January 6, 2025.
The appointment was confirmed by NCCI board chair Richard (Dick) Lavey, who also serves as executive vice president and president of Hanover Agency Markets at The Hanover Insurance Group.
Ryan currently leads Allianz Commercial across North and Latin America and brings with her over three decades of experience in the insurance industry. Her tenure includes leadership roles at Liberty Mutual Insurance, where she most recently served as president of Global Risk Solutions, North America.
Ryan is an experienced executive with a strong background in strategy, claims management, actuarial oversight, financial management, and leadership development.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Fairfield University and a master’s in mathematics from the University of Colorado Boulder.
Ryan is a member of the Casualty Actuarial Society and previously served on NCCI's Board, including a term as board chair from 2016 to 2018.
Ryan expressed enthusiasm about joining NCCI, a longstanding provider of data, analysis, and resources for the workers’ compensation industry.
"I am humbled and excited to help NCCI carry on this proud legacy," said Ryan. “I am extremely grateful for the time I spent with Allianz, and for the opportunity to work alongside some of the most talented people in the industry. I wish them continued success.”
Ryan will succeed Bill Donnell, NCCI’s current president and CEO, who plans to retire in February 2025.
"Leading NCCI for the past nine years has been the highlight of my career. I have so much to be thankful for, having had the opportunity to work with so many outstanding individuals. I know Tracy well, and I am confident she will lead NCCI to bigger and better things, and I look forward to working with her through the transition," said Donnell.
The selection of Ryan followed a nationwide search led by former NCCI Board chair and AF Group president and CEO Lisa Corless.
"We conducted an extensive nationwide search, looking for someone uniquely qualified for this important role," said Corless.
“Tracy is a proven leader with deep industry experience who also appreciates the vital role NCCI plays for the industry. And she understands the rich culture and history that make NCCI a special place to work," she added.
Allianz Commercial CEO, Chris Townsend noted that while Ryan will be missed, her transition to NCCI reflects the positive industry impact she is expected to continue.
