They beat ladders hands down.

With its insurance specific roofing inspection technology gaining users, Loveland Innovations has announced its partnership with DJI, manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles or drones.

Several models of DJI drones will be used to support Loveland’s IMGING solution, which enables roofing inspections through automation technology.

A Yahoo Finance report explained that the off-the-shelf drones will capture roofing images, and will be linked to mobile devices and computers in the office to deliver high resolution pictures through an application that also integrates with existing insurance workflows.

According to its website, Loveland’s service, called IMGING, allows claims adjusters to link these images through the application to key job information, such as claim and policy numbers and types of loss. It is also web based, which allows users to create a flight path for the drones before inspection. An average residential flight captures 50-75 high resolution images in less than 15 minutes. The service also allows users to generate inspection reports that can be attached to existing workflows.

Jim Loveland, founder and chief executive of Loveland Innovations, said in the Yahoo report that the firm decided to partner with DJI after mulling over the hardware requirements of their app and considering whether to build their own drones or tie up with a supplier.

Under the terms of the partnership, Loveland Innovations will also serve as an enterprise dealer for the DJI drones.
