Spanning from April 29 to May 1, the summit attracted nearly 400 participants who engaged in sessions tailored to expand market reach and enhance the operational efficacy of their agencies. The summit’s agenda was geared toward providing practical strategies for growth and adaptation in a changing industry landscape.
The event began with the Lone Star Scramble Charity Golf Tournament, which raised funds for four local nonprofits, each selected by one of SIAA’s Texas master agencies. A notable addition to the event was a golf clinic sponsored by Travelers Insurance, named SHE Golfs, aimed at empowering women in the industry with confidence to participate in golfing events.
Joan Woodward, executive vice president of public policy at Travelers, set the conference’s tone with a keynote on the economic and political environment affecting the industry. The summit featured a diverse agenda with panels and workshops on topics such as commercial lines strategies, agency perpetuation, digital marketing, and innovative practices in insurance.
These sessions provided a platform for roundtable discussions with strategic partners, enhancing collaboration and opportunity exploration within the sector.
A significant moment at the summit was the presentation of the inaugural Lone Star Community Star Award to Myrna Estrada, senior vice president and field executive of Liberty Mutual Insurance, recognizing her significant contributions to the industry and community in Texas.
Ian Exelbert, SIAA’s Central/West Regional President, commented on the event’s impact in its very first showing.
“We are thrilled with the success of the first Lone Star Summit,” Exelbert said. “This event represents a pivotal moment for growth and innovation in the Texas insurance landscape. We are grateful to all our attendees, speakers, sponsors, and partners for their contributions in making this event a resounding success.”
The summit closed with an awards ceremony that celebrated exceptional achievements and set a forward-looking agenda for independent agents in Texas.
