Lloyd's has announced the appointment of Rebekah Clement as corporate affairs director, effective immediately. In this newly created role, Clement will report directly to Lloyd's CEO John Neal.

In her new role, Clement will consolidate Lloyd's capabilities and resources in government policy and affairs, external stakeholder engagement, corporate communications, media, and thought leadership under the new corporate affairs function.

The establishment of this function aims to enhance stakeholder engagement and provide solutions that showcase Lloyd's value proposition and purpose. It will focus on crucial strategic areas such as culture, climate, and cross-sector initiatives, Lloyd’s said.

Clement has more than 20 years of experience in corporate affairs, and brings a wealth of expertise in government policy, brand reputation, media, and communications. She has held senior positions in both the public and private sectors, including roles in New Zealand's Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. Most recently, Clement played a key role in developing and leading Lloyd's sustainability framework and initiatives.

As a member of Lloyd's ESG Committee of Council, Clement will continue to drive cross-sector initiatives, including the Sustainable Markets Initiative Insurance Task Force.

“Our new corporate affairs team will help Lloyd’s build stronger relationships with all our stakeholders so we can provide more effective leadership on the issues that matter, from climate transition to the digital revolution,” Neal said. “Rebekah's experience and her team's deep expertise will help sharpen our voice as we continue driving our market's performance, digitalisation, purpose and culture goals.”

In a related development, Jo Scott, who has been leading Lloyd's marketing and communications function since 2016, will transition to a new role as the head of the Lloyd's of London Foundation.

Lloyd’s also recently announced the appointment of Rachel Turk as chief underwriting officer and Bob James as chief operations officer.
