Zurich North America and Old Republic International Corporation have announced leadership appointments aimed at strengthening their multinational underwriting and specialty insurance operations, respectively.

Zurich North America has promoted Cody Griffin (pictured above, left) to US head of multinational underwriting. Griffin, previously head of multinational casualty, is based in Denver and will continue reporting to Bill Chepulis, head of large casualty.

In his expanded role, Griffin will oversee Zurich’s suite of multinational products, working closely with Zurich Customer & Distribution Management to further strengthen relationships with brokers and customers.

Griffin will also collaborate with Bob Boyle, US head of multinational, who is responsible for the execution of approximately 20,000 US multinational policies and programs and leads Zurich’s digital transformation efforts for its multinational services.

The appointment also coincides with the 50th anniversary of Zurich's Multinational business, which is led globally by Rosa Pan. Zurich’s multinational platform serves over 7,500 customers across more than 200 countries and territories.

In recent years, Zurich’s US multinational offerings have earned several industry recognitions, including Business Insurance Innovation Awards for the Zurich API Connector Solution and International Towers by Zurich, as well as a PropertyCasualty360 Luminaries Award for its Exporter Solutions Digital Platform.

Griffin joined Zurich in 2020 and has held various positions within the multinational division, formerly known as International Programs from Zurich (IPZ). Before Zurich, he held underwriting roles at AIG and Liberty Mutual

He holds a master of science in insurance management from Boston University, a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Northern Colorado, and several industry designations, including CPCU, AU, ARM, and AIS. His new role is effective immediately.

Earlier this month, the insurer also announced three strategic leadership promotions within its customer and distribution management (CDM) team.
