James Flude will assume the role of chief executive officer of Lancashire Insurance US, succeeding Huw Jones, who will transition to the newly created position of chief underwriting officer for the US division.
These leadership adjustments aim to enhance operational and underwriting capabilities within the region.
Flude, currently serving as group chief underwriting officer: Insurance, joined Lancashire in January 2014 and will relocate to the US for his new role.
Paul Gregory, group chief underwriting officer, said that Flude has proven his leadership capability "within the senior underwriting team at Lancashire and will bring his strong operational focus to the US business at this exciting time in its development.”
Meanwhile, Jones has led the US business since its inception in March 2024 and was previously the head of Specialty Insurance at Lancashire.
"[Jones] has done a fantastic job launching the US business and has built a very strong team across underwriting and support functions. Its ongoing success and the growth opportunities for the business mean we are now accelerating these senior management changes to optimise our operations,” said group CEO, Alex Maloney.
"[Jones'] underwriting expertise and experience will be invaluable as we continue to build strong relationships with our trading partners and further expand our operations with new lines of business," said Gregory.
In related developments, James Irvine, group chief underwriting officer: Reinsurance, will depart the company after 14 years.
Maloney expressed gratitude for Irvine’s contributions, which included significant roles in Bermuda and London, and extended well-wishes for his future endeavors.
Additional appointments include Matthew Narbett as deputy group chief underwriting officer and Matthew Thomas as active underwriter for Lancashire Syndicates 2010 and 3010.
Rachel Sabbarton will take over as chief underwriting officer for Lancashire Insurance Company (UK) Limited, a role previously held by Flude.
