Inszone Insurance Services has acquired Munson Insurance Agency, located in Arkansas City, Kansas, marking its second acquisition in the state.

The move extends Inszone’s operations in the Midwest and expands its service capabilities in the Kansas market.

Munson Insurance Agency was founded in 1974 by Jim Munson and has served Arkansas City and surrounding areas for nearly five decades. In 1994, Mike Munson joined the agency and later assumed full ownership in 2008.

Following the acquisition, Munson Insurance Agency clients will have access to Inszone’s broader portfolio of insurance solutions, with operations continuing under the established team in Arkansas City.

Munson said the decision to join Inszone was based on the need to position the agency for long-term growth. He said that after operating independently for 18 years, partnering with a larger organization offered a path to greater resources and market access.

Chris Walters (pictured above), CEO of Inszone Insurance Services, said the acquisition aligns with the company's strategy to strengthen its presence in Kansas. He said the Munson team brings extensive experience in farm and agricultural insurance, and that Inszone plans to build on the agency’s existing foundation.

Elsewhere, Inszone also expanded in Texas with the acquisition of LIA Texas, LLC, also known as Lyon's Insurance Agency.

Munson Insurance Agency has primarily focused on business and farm insurance and will retain its existing staff, who bring decades of experience to the new structure.

Inszone’s further expansion into the farm sector aligns with growth in recent years. The sector remains a vital component of Kansas agriculture, with participation rates for primary crops like wheat, corn, grain sorghum, and soybeans ranging between 87% and 100%.

In 2024, the USDA Risk Management Agency reported that Kansas farmers insured over 18 million acres, with total liabilities exceeding $5.9 billion.

The Pasture, Rangeland, and Forage (PRF) program accounted for $321 million in liabilities and $47 million in indemnities, while the Livestock Risk Protection (LRP) program for feeder cattle covered $818 million in liabilities with $30 million in indemnities.
