Travel insurance comparison site InsureMyTrip has launched educational resources to help travelers understand the impact of the coronavirus.
The company reported a 245% increase in policies sold since January 21 that include a “cancel for any reason” benefit. Travel insurance agents are also predicting that more travelers will try to postpone trips or seek alternative destinations as the coronavirus outbreak unfolds, InsureMyTrip said.
The company’s educational materials about the outbreak are available on its website. InsureMyTrip has also partnered with On Call International, a global travel risk-management company, to provide the latest information and advice on the coronavirus outbreak and its impact on travelers.
“We understand travelers are concerned about this health emergency and the situation remains dynamic,” said Meghan Walch, InsureMyTrip product manager. “We expect this growing demand for travel insurance to continue to rise until the coronavirus outbreak stabilizes, and we hope these resources will provide the latest information in regards to how travel insurance companies are responding.
