Insurance moves at Liberty Mutual, Ascot Group, Acrisure, Cozen O’Connor and LP Insurance

Several notable leadership appointments have recently been announced across the insurance and risk management sector. Companies such as Liberty Mutual, Ascot Group, Acrisure, Cozen O’Connor and LP Insurance Services have made significant changes, signaling strategic shifts within the industry.

Liberty Mutual elects new chairman

The board at Liberty Mutual Insurance has named Timothy Sweeney (pictured left) as chairman, effective April 9, 2025.

Sweeney, who currently serves as the company’s president and CEO, will succeed David Long, who is retiring from both roles. Long, who spent 40 years at the company, held several key positions, including president and CEO.

Sweeney became president and CEO in January 2023 after Long’s retirement from the CEO position.

Ascot Group appoints CEO for North America

Ascot Group has named Marc Amen (pictured center) as the new CEO of North America, effective upon the completion of his current obligations later this year.

Amen, who previously worked at RenaissanceRe, will be responsible for overseeing Ascot’s operations in the US and Bermuda and will join Ascot Group’s executive committee. He brings 24 years of underwriting and leadership experience to his role.

Acrisure names new chief technology officer and chief administrative officer

Acrisure has announced the appointments of Mark Wassersug as chief technology officer and Shawn Pelsinger as chief administrative officer, effective later this month.

Both executives will contribute to the company’s ongoing growth and expansion, particularly in the technology and administrative sectors.

Wassersug, who joins Acrisure from Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), will lead the company’s technology initiatives. Meanwhile, Pelsinger previously served as global head of corporate development at Palantir Technologies. He will oversee Acrisure’s legal, human resources and regulatory functions.

Cozen O’Connor welcomes veteran litigator to global insurance department

Cozen O’Connor has added Jeff Work, a former Texas state district court judge, to its global insurance department.

Work, who has extensive experience in civil and commercial litigation, will join the firm’s Houston office. He comes to the company from Germer P.L.L.C. and has represented clients in a wide range of legal matters, including mass torts, insurance coverage disputes and product liability cases.

LP Insurance Services adds to commercial lines group

LP Insurance Services LLC has announced the addition of Rachael Rizzi (pictured right) to its commercial lines group in southern Nevada.

Rizzi brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the role where she will focus on developing and maintaining strong client relationships within the LP Insurance commercial lines division. She serves on the Nevada Department of Insurance Commissioner’s Agent Advisory Council and as a board member for the Nevada Independent Insurance Agents.
