Property and casualty insurance firm Kaplansky Insurance Agency has joined Alera Group, effective January 1.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Alera Group said the partnership expands its property and casualty offerings in the Northeast, adding a team of more than 100 agents.

Founded in 1974, Kaplansky Insurance Agency has grown into one of the largest privately held insurance agencies in the region. Over the past 50 years, it has completed 53 acquisitions, expanded to 18 locations, and serves more than 50,000 clients.

“We’re incredibly excited to welcome Kaplansky Insurance Agency to Alera Group,” said Jim Blue, chief executive officer of Alera. “With every acquisition, we’re committed to growing our team with highly trusted and qualified advisors who put clients first, and the Kaplansky team lives those values every day.”

Kaplansky Insurance Agency will continue to operate in its current capacity.

MarshBerry Capital, an investment banking and consulting firm, served as the exclusive financial adviser to Kaplansky.

Last year, Alera acquired Texas-based HealthSure for an undisclosed sum.
