Insurance Business America (IBA) has unveiled its Top Insurance Brokers and Agents for 2024, showcasing professionals who have successfully navigated a year marked by economic uncertainty, severe weather events, and a hard insurance market.
This annual recognition focuses on brokers and agents who excel in serving their clients’ needs, rather than emphasizing revenue metrics.
IBA conducted its annual survey from July 8 to August 23, reaching out to thousands of industry professionals nationwide.
Respondents nominated brokers and agents, rating them based on six specific criteria. Nominees who received the highest scores – averaging 8 or above – earned recognition as 2024’s top performers.
One 2024 honoree is Alicia Calhoun, senior vice president – broker at XPT Specialty in Houston, Texas.
Calhoun, who has more than 25 years of experience split between retail and wholesale insurance, specializes in casualty (primary and excess), energy (oil and gas), environmental, and construction lines.
She began her insurance career in 1999, working with an independent agency in Manchester, New Hampshire. Over the years, she advanced her expertise through roles at firms including Bowen, Miclette & Britt, Oxford Insurance Services, RT Specialty, and Jimcor Agencies. She joined XPT Specialty in 2020.
Throughout her career, Calhoun has focused on continuous learning and professional development. She has earned multiple industry certifications, including CIC, CRM, CRIS, and MLIS.
IBA’s annual list highlights brokers and agents who demonstrate adaptability and commitment in a market shaped by ongoing challenges.
