Higginbotham, the second largest insurance brokerage in Texas , and one of the largest in the U.S., with 660 employees in 22 offices, continues to grow one purchase at a time.
This week it announced it has merged with Commercial Global Insurance (CGI) of Deer Park, which will move its employees to Higginbotham’s Friendswood office.
Higginbotham provides commercial and personal property/casualty coverage, employee benefits, retirement plans, life insurance and executive compensation.
CGI founder Blake Barnes said, “What drew me to Higginbotham was the opportunity to offer broader
insurance products and account services to my clients. We both have strong affinities in Texas, and we want to give our customers the best in the business.”
Founded in 1999, CGI brings five employees to the consolidated office. CGI had specialized in serving, industrial, environmental and construction clients with risk management and loss mitigation services. Barnes will serve as managing director of the new office. Higginbotham has had an office is Friendswood since 2010 when it purchased another agency there.
Higginbotham was founded in 1948, and began growing through mergers and acquisitions in 2008.
