Heffernan Insurance Brokers, one of the largest independent insurance brokerage firms in the United States, announced the appointment of Suzy Taherian (pictured above) to its board of directors.
According to Heffernan, Taherian's experience includes setting up finance infrastructure for startups, turning around distressed companies, and serving as a strategic advisor to CEOs and boards of directors.
She has also been involved in corporate business development, overseeing day-to-day operations of multi-state facilities, and managing significant financial transactions.
Taherian's background includes roles as a controller of an international company, compliance responsibility for 1,000 employees, investment advisory expertise, and budget management for a global business.
"I've been fortunate to work with the Heffernan team for many years," Taherian said. She also noted Heffernan's track record of growth and strong service and partnership reputation.
“There are exciting opportunities for innovation, leveraging AI and new technology solutions. I'm delighted to join the board and look forward to continuing the strong journey going forward,” Taherian said.
F. Michael Heffernan, president and CEO of Heffernan Insurance Brokers, stated that Taherian brings a wealth of industry expertise and leadership acumen.
“With a background in mergers and acquisitions, debt, financing, and steering the growth of companies, Suzy brings a new perspective to the board that we believe will prove valuable in guiding our company toward future success,” Heffernan said.
Earlier this month, the independent brokerage expanded its services to include aviation insurance expertise by snapping up Costello Insurance Associates for an undisclosed sum.
Based in Tempe, Ariz., Costello is now Heffernan’s aviation specialty practice, which operates under the group’s Phoenix branch office. Founded in 1991 by pilot and flight instructor Pat Costello, the agency serves clients nationwide.
The acquired firm specializes in insurance coverage for various types of aircraft, including jets, gliders, drones, and offers services to operations such as flying clubs, flight schools, and airports.
