Dr Renate Strasser (pictured above) will join the executive board of HDI Global SE, effective April 1, 2025, succeeding Ralph Beutter as the board member responsible for specialty lines.
Beutter, who will retire on May 31, 2025, will continue to support the company in an advisory role and through committee positions after his departure.
Strasser brings extensive experience in corporate and specialty insurance. She began her career in 2004 in the aviation sector at Munich Re, where she became the global head of aviation facultative in 2007.
In 2016, she moved to Zurich, taking on the roles of CEO and managing director for a Swiss subsidiary of Munich Re. She later joined the board of management at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty in 2020 as chief underwriting officer for specialty and assumed the position of chief technical officer at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty and Allianz Commercial in 2023.
During the transition period from April to May 2025, Beutter will work closely with Strasser to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities.
Beutter retires after a distinguished career in specialty lines. His tenure is marked by significant achievements, particularly during his time as CEO of the specialty business segment within the Talanx Group.
Under his leadership, the segment’s premium volume grew from €800 million to approximately €3 billion. In 2022, he was appointed to the executive board of HDI Global SE as chief underwriting officer for specialty lines, where he played a key role in integrating specialty and corporate business.
